34 Years of Advocacy. A Lifetime of Impact.

For over 34 years, Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans has been a lifeline for individuals with disabilities and their families across Southeast Louisiana. We provide the tools, training, and peer support needed to navigate complex systems with confidence.

Empowering Families. Changing Lives.

We walk alongside thousands of families each year, helping them navigate complex school systems, access community services, and find their voices as advocates.

Advocate. Connect. Educate.

Information & Resources: We bridge the gap between families and essential services by transforming complex systems into clear, actionable paths. Through our annual resource rair, digital magazine, up-to-date information & resources, and community outreach, we ensure you stay informed and connected.

Education & Training:  We empower families through trainings that covers everything from Special Education rights to IEPs and beyond. Whether you join us in person or watch us live or a recorded session at your own pace, we're here to help you lead the way for your family.

Peer Support: Guided by lived experience, our team of parents and individuals with disabilities offers a community of understanding and real-world expertise.

We are Changing Lives. Every Day!

Voices of Impact

“The information was very helpful, and I’ve already registered for both classes on Thursday. Thank you for your time and attentiveness, it is truly appreciated.” -Jayed R.

“Since participating in the Monthly Youth Hangouts, I’ve gained more confidence to speak up for myself and open up to others.” -Thomas T.

“I absolutely love what y’all are doing with the Exceptional Times Digital Magazine!” -SPED Homebound Teacher/Mentor

“This was the most informative IDEA training I’ve attended since my daughter was born. Most of what I’ve learned about navigating her disability has come from my own research.”  -Parent

“I’m so grateful to Families Helping Families after a successful MDR that allowed my son to remain in school. It was determined that his IEP was not being followed appropriately, and now he will receive the additional supports he needs to succeed. I’ve also learned how to advocate for him and better support him both in and out of school.” -Yasenia L.

“I learned about Families Helping Families at the Lakeside Resource Fair and have really enjoyed reading the newsletter, especially Exceptional Times. It was exactly what I needed to help me understand what to get my daughter involved in. I never knew who to talk to before, and I’m so grateful to now be connected with FHF.” -Terri S.
