GiveNOLA: Lift a Family Up

GiveNOLA Day is one of our favorite days of the year — a day when the entire Greater New Orleans community comes together to lift each other up, celebrate generosity, and sprinkle a little magic across our city. For Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans, that magic shows up in the form of support, guidance, and hope for families of children and youth with disabilities.

Every day, families reach out to us feeling overwhelmed, confused, or unsure where to turn. They’re navigating special education, disability services, early intervention, healthcare systems, and the endless maze of paperwork and decisions that come with advocating for a child. No one hands you a roadmap for this journey — but that’s exactly why we’re here.

Our mission is simple: to make sure no family has to navigate disability alone.  

We walk beside parents, caregivers, and youth with disabilities, offering real answers, real advocacy, and real connection. Whether it’s helping a parent prepare for an IEP meeting, guiding a family through early intervention services, or simply being a voice of reassurance on a tough day, we show up with compassion and expertise every single time.

This fundraiser helps us continue providing free, high‑quality support to families who need it most. It keeps our phone lines open, our trainings accessible, our advocacy strong, and our community connected. It ensures that when a family calls us — whether they’re scared, frustrated, hopeful, or just trying to figure out the next step — someone is there to answer.

This year, we’re inviting our supporters to join us in spreading that GiveNOLA magic even further by creating their own Peer‑to‑Peer fundraising pages. Each member’s page becomes a ripple of impact, helping us reach more families and raising awareness about the challenges and triumphs of disability advocacy in our community.
