Louisiana Bucket Brigade

The Louisiana Bucket Brigade believes our state is worth saving!  Our vision is to create a Louisiana that is healthy, prosperous, pollution-free, and just state where people and the environment are valued over profit.  For over 26 years, we've had a laser focus on supporting neighborhoods adjacent to the petrochemical industry in Louisiana.  In the current political landscape, these communities are more vulnerable than ever.  This moment requires new strategies and new energy, including engaging Louisiana's young people.

Your support on GiveNOLA day will help grow our NextGen Summer Academy - where the next generation of leaders, from 3rd grade to early college, learn how to protect our home and create a better future.

In the summer of 2025, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade kicked off its inaugural summer youth programming in partnership with Rural Roots Louisiana. Based in Ascension Parish, Rural Roots was formed to engage young people about where we live, what’s at risk, and how to protect our home for generations to come. This summer, we are proud to continue our partnership with Rural Roots and will expand the program by also collaborating with Inclusive Louisiana, our community partner in St. James Parish. The curriculum was developed with Inclusive Louisiana, and together, we will work with this younger cohort to deepen their understanding of where we live, to connect them to our beloved Mississippi River, and to introduce them to ideas like mapping and why clean air and water matter.

We know that good food raises spirits and inspires learning. We have engaged River Parishes-based chefs to provide a healthy and robust lunch every day. Your support on GiveNOLA Day will help us fund not only their fuel their bodies for the day, but also map-making supplies, data collection tools, teacher stipends, and transportation for the kids.  We can't thank you enough for standing with us and our youth!
