For nearly 10 years, I’ve worked at a nonprofit that provides grief support, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention to children, young people, and families navigating some of life’s most devastating moments. The person in this picture is someone I lost as a teenager, and she is the primary reason why I went into this work. This work has placed me alongside people facing profound loss, trauma, and instability—and I’ve seen again and again how healing begins when someone is met with compassion, consistency, and care exactly where they are.
Right now, that work feels more urgent than ever. In a time when funding cuts are impacting mental health services across the country—including school-based care that so many children rely on—we are working harder than ever to protect access to services that truly work. Our approach is rooted in meeting people in their environments, reducing barriers, and providing evidence-based care that improves outcomes and helps young people heal from trauma and grief.
Give NOLA Day is one of the most important opportunities to sustain this mission. Your support helps ensure that children and families in our community continue to receive the care they need during some of their hardest moments. Every donation helps us keep showing up, keep providing hope, and keep making healing possible. That's why Give NOLA Day matters so much to me, and why I'm asking for your support.
