Generation Hope

To ensure all student parents have the opportunities to succeed, experience economic mobility, and build wealth, Generation Hope engages education and policy partners to drive systemic change and provides direct support to teen parents in college as well as their children through holistic, two-generation programming.

Fewer than 2% of teen mothers earn a college degree before age 30, and more than half of all parenting college students leave school without a degree. Generation Hope is committed to changing these statistics one family and one system at a time. Through our New Orleans Scholar program and our family-centered direct service across the Greater New Orleans area, we help teen parents earn college degrees and secure jobs with family-sustaining wages and help their children prepare for Kindergarten and beyond.

Generation Hope fills a major need and gap in services. We are the only organization in the Greater New Orleans area and one of very few nationally that provides postsecondary support to teen parents. Our two-generation model is also unique; while many organizations focus on programming for either children or parents, our core programming surrounds both with wraparound support.

Currently, Generation Hope serves 25 teen parents and their families across six Parishes. With your support, we will be able to provide our wraparound supports to serve 10 new families in the area, supporting teen parents as they achieve college degrees, secure family-sustaining careers, and build wealth.
