From Lake Charles to Grand Bayou, Lowlander Center is helping communities expand their disaster response and preparedness capacity. For example: During Hurricane Francine, at the Grand Caillou/Dulac Tribal Center, one solar unit (5-kilowatt) was able to provide a/c, refrigeration, and cooking elements during the power outage for around 1,000 people. The Tribal Center is a Climate Resilient Hub, designated by American Red Cross, open to the general Grand Caillou/Dulac community, providing essential disaster response services before, during, and after storms.
