Andrew's Healthy Gulf Fundraiser

Healthy Gulf organizes people and educates them on issues having to do with protecting wetlands, wildlife and water quality. We have many expenses: getting people to public meetings, helping them write comments or make statements, supporting them at agency meetings and in appeals of permits or projects that harm their health, property and enjoyment of life.

Agencies like Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality now charge by the hour to produce data and records we seek in Freedom of Information Act requests. Our legal challenges/appeals of permits in state and federal courts come with copying fees, filing fees and we have to travel to do research in agency records or to lodge appeals or give comments at agency meetings.
