Hannah's Promise of Justice Fundraiser!

Hello Community!

As many of you may know, I started in September 2025 as a Client and Family Assistance (CAFA) Coordinator at the Promise of Justice Initiative (PJI). PJI addresses issues of mass incarceration and the death penalty through legal advocacy, community organizing, and direct service work with people impacted by incarceration. 

Over my seven months supporting incarcerated clients at PJI so far, I’ve come to see how vital and unique the CAFA program is. We support clients with their social, emotional, logistic, and financial needs. In my daily work, this looks like advocating for their right to access medical care and safe and hygienic living conditions, reporting misconduct by prison staff, purchasing books, clothes, and eyeglasses, printing and sending reading materials, facilitating communications with university financial aid offices, and organizing family visits. As a CAFA, I am also often a go-to person when clients go through major transitions such as losing a family member or friend on the inside, particularly for those who do not have much family on the outside to rely on. In the process of developing my relationships with clients, I’ve come to see how these services, amongst many others, make a huge difference in their day-to-day lives.
