Built for this Moment

I am proud to serve as the board Treasurer of the Urban League of Louisiana, especially in a moment like this.

We are living through a time that feels divided and uncertain. And in moments like this, institutions that are steady, trusted, and committed to the work matter more than ever.

For generations, the Urban League has been building pathways to opportunity and strengthening communities. As a sociologist who has studied social class for almost 60 years, I am convinced that a key part in finding long-term solutions to address our nation’s 500-year history of racism is economic inclusion. The Urban League of Louisiana, an affiliate of the National Urban League, does that through programs that affect families from early childhood education through their adult careers.

On GiveNOLA Day, May 5, I am proud to stand behind that work and send my donation last night before creating this page. I will continue to donate and volunteer my time.
