Help Healthy Gulf fund our research and advocacy against chronic oil spills in the Louisiana Gulf

Coastal Louisiana has the most ocean oil spills of any region in our United States. An increasing number of these oil spills come from derelict oil wells and platforms, which once produced energy, and now produce misery. The damages to our wildlife and water are never assessed and fines are never levied for these oil spills, due to loopholes in the Oil Pollution Act and lack of government staff and funding.

Healthy Gulf is the sole non profit investigating these leaks from derelict platforms and advocating to have them plugged. The jobs potential in cleanup for the oil sector is enormous, at over 30,000 jobs to fully plug, abandon, and remove oil wells, flowlines and platforms from our Louisiana coast.

We need your donation, to maintain the tempo of Healthy Gulf's well inspections on derelict leases. With your support, we will hire local captains who know the water, and often have the know how to get a field cleaned up.

To date, Healthy Gulf identified a chronic leak in Quarantine Bay, and pushed agency action to have the well receive new valves. Oil sheens were reduced from dozens a year in Quarantine Bay, although problems will persist until all 157 wells are filled with cement and removed.  The Gulf is coming.

We will need oil workers forever, to care for our waters.  Steel corrodes and cement cracks, but our love for our land and water will never cease.

Support Healthy Gulf's efforts to hire back the workers who could put hands on steel, and stop these chronic oil spills into our coast.
