I lead the recreational soccer program, which serves over 220 children in New Orleans. Our program helps kids stay active, develop soccer skills, and build confidence and character both on and off the field.

Soccer has always been a part of my life. When I moved to New Orleans to attend Xavier University of Louisiana, I joined the club soccer team looking for familiarity in a new city. Through that experience, I was introduced to The 18th Ward, which sponsored our team and gave us the opportunity to work as coaches.

The 18th Ward provides free and low-cost youth sports programming, removing barriers so every child can access the game. No one should be stuck on the sidelines because of their circumstances.

I started as a coach-in-training, assisting program managers with running stations and teaching basic skills. Over my four years in college, I continued working with The 18th Ward across multiple programs, with soccer becoming my primary focus. Through this work, soccer has provided me with community, mentorship, economic opportunity, and lifelong skills both on and off the field.

Today, I’m proud to lead a program that not only impacts youth, but also creates opportunities for local high school and college students by employing them as coaches and mentors.

With your support, we can continue this mission—providing access, opportunity, and a positive environment for every child who wants to play because ALL children deserve the chance to play.
