Cisterns are like mechanical trees: these metal tanks harvest 625 gallons for every 1000 square feet of rooftop and create sustainable, ecological infrastructure.
Imagine communities harvesting millions of gallons of fresh rainwater every year:
By harvesting rainwater, at scale, we can redirect stormwater runoff and reduce stormwater erosion, mitigate localized flooding, counteract pollution, and add critical capacity for disaster response and preparedness by providing emergency drinking water that can be treated to potable standards through multilayered filtration systems that require no electricity. Reliable sources of fresh water along the coast of Louisiana will enable us to recharge the ground table water necessary for reforestation efforts and strengthen wetland regeneration and ecosystems that support all life, human and nonhuman.
