Going Home Program

About the Program

Our Going Home program reconnects newly unhoused or stranded individuals with loved ones who are willing to take them in until they can become stable and self-sufficient. Our team negotiates a social contract to help rebuild stable relationships, covering meals & transportation costs and arranging further resources (substance abuse treatment, medical and/or mental healthcare), as needed. Our social worker offers 3 months of post-reunification follow-up. Of the 4,000 individuals we have reunited with loved ones to date, less than 8% wound up back on the streets after 3 months of follow-up. 

Real Stories, Real Change

Through our Going Home program we not only strive for family reunification, but also to empower our clients to share their stories of resilience. Today, our client Ni has shared part of her story with us.

Ni has been navigating homelessness since she was 13, moving between family and friends to find a safe place to stay. Recently, after a disagreement with a friend turned violent, she knew she wanted a different path forward.

She came to us, seeking help to reconnect with her sister in another state - where she was welcomed immediately, and offered a safe place to land.

Ni already has a job interview lined up and plans to complete her GED in hopes to one day become a nurse or open her own daycare center. She’s focused on building a more stable future and taking the next steps toward her goals.
