Thanks so much to friends, family and allies who have donated so far! We still have 8 hours to go and I'd love to hit that 10 donor goal.
Solidarity and love to yall!
Since 2007, the New Orleans Workers' Center for Racial Justice has been a home for Black and immigrant workers refusing to accept exploitation as normal. When the political climate tries to divide us, we organize across race, language, and background to build something powerful: a workers' movement that fights for all of us!
Your donation to NOWCRJ makes real change possible.
This September, we're hosting our third annual Warrant Clinic to clear municipal warrants, traffic tickets, and fines that trap New Orleanians in cycles of debt and criminalization. Last year alone, we helped people clear over $450,000 in fines and fees from 531 cases, giving working-class people and their families a fresh start and restoring their ability to work, drive, and move forward.
We want to help clear even more fines and fees this year and cover the cost of driver's licenses for those who cannot afford that final step toward equal opportunity.
Through our "We Are Not Disposable" campaign, we're fighting for the workers who make our celebratory culture and tourism industry possible, but are treated like an afterthought - like with Mardi Gras clean up workers. This year, we provided PPE to hundreds of cleanup workers, delivered snacks and water during long shifts, and successfully pressured the City of New Orleans to pay workers after weeks of delay in violation of state law. We're not just helping workers survive, we're demanding they be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
When you support the Workers' Center, you're investing in organizing some of the most marginalized, hardest-working residents of our city.
Donate $50 or more, and you will receive a copy of our book “Don't Stand Alone" on Black labor organizing in New Orleans. It's a powerful reminder that the rights we have today were fought for, that the struggle continues, and that together, we are unstoppable!
Thank you for standing with New Orleans workers. Let's keep building!
