Training the Workforce New Orleans Needs:

Louisiana Green Corps trains and finds employment for young adults in high-demand careers essential for fortifying our city against extreme weather conditions—including solar installation, green infrastructure, and skilled construction trades. We provide industry-recognized certifications, hands-on field experience, and a clear path to well-paying careers, strengthening New Orleans' workforce and protecting its infrastructure.

Every dollar donated on May 5 via https://www.givenola.org/organization/lagreencorps is a direct investment in a skilled labor pipeline and a durable New Orleans, funding:

• Industry Certifications: Covering the cost of credentials like OSHA 10 and NCCER, providing trainees with a competitive edge.

• Essential Gear: Equipping trainees with the personal protective equipment and tools necessary for safe and productive work on job sites.

• Program Expansion: Allowing us to serve more young people and expand our training into new, high-growth infrastructure sectors.

Our goal this Give NOLA Day is to raise $20,000 to support the next cohort of trainees who will build a stronger, safer New Orleans. Meeting that goal will earn us a Freeman Challenge match of $10,000 from GNOF!

For the past 18+ years, Louisiana Green Corps has been addressing racial gaps in the green labor workforce, with more than 1,500 underserved youth and adults to provide training and certifications they needed to secure quality employment in green jobs - including in stormwater management, energy efficiency, and solar. 

Looking at the 2025-2026 fiscal year, roughly 48% of LAGC’s budget was sourced from several multi-year federal grants and subawards; now those funds have been threatened with reduction or even retraction. Regardless of the federal political climate, it is undeniable that the green and blue economies are crucial economic drivers in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana. To accomplish our vision in light of the dramatic loss of federal funding, we need additional funding support.
