When a young woman is ready to step into a professional space, the opportunity should meet her there.

At DiversiTea Divas, we have spent years building mentorship that connects young women to professionals across fields like law, education, business, and technology. We have seen what happens when a young woman sits at a table, asks questions, and begins to see herself in a future she is working toward.

What we also see is where the pathway narrows.

Many of the next steps that matter most require time, transportation, and the ability to work without immediate pay. For students who are already balancing school, family responsibilities, and financial pressure, unpaid opportunities are often not an option.

Paid internships change that.

They allow young women to participate fully, gain real experience, and begin building the skills and confidence that carry into long term careers. They also create a more equitable entry point into professional environments that have historically been difficult to access.

This GiveNOLA Day, we are raising funds to support paid summer internships for young women in our network.

A part time internship at 10 hours per week for four weeks at $20 an hour comes to $800. Our goal is to fund 3 internships, for a total of $2,400. If we reach our stretch goal of $4,000, we will fund 5 internships this summer.

Each contribution moves us closer to placing a young woman in a professional environment where she can learn, contribute, and be paid for her work.
