One Book One New Orleans is a nonprofit organization that supports literacy, builds community, and promotes meaningful dialogue between people of diverse backgrounds by calling on all New Orleanians to share the experience of reading and discussing a selected book each year, and providing literacy resources to organizations and individuals throughout our community.

GiveNOLA Day gifts will be used to purchase and distribute copies of our 2026 selection, Libre by Skye Jackson, to adult education programs, incarcerated adults, and incarcerated teens, and to host free public programming inspired by the book.

One Book One New Orleans selects one book every year and encourages everyone in the city to read the same book at the same time, with the goal of creating a stronger sense of community through a shared reading experience. Through a network of partners, we ensure that members of our community who would typically be excluded from a community of readers are able to participate in our programs.

Our partnerships with the New Orleans Public Library, and WRBH Reading Radio allow us to host quality community programming and to provide access to our selected book to those with limited budget and those with visual impairment.

Through our partnerships with numerous adult education programs, Louisiana Books 2 Prisoners, and Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, we provide copies of our selected book and an accompanying curriculum to adult education programs throughout the Greater New Orleans area and incarcerated people throughout Louisiana.
