The Gulf of Mexico is the lifeblood of our region—powering our economies, shaping our cultures, and sustaining the communities of the Gulf South. It’s also home to extraordinary wildlife, from the critically endangered Rice’s whale to Kemp’s ridley sea turtles and vital coral reef ecosystems.

But right now, all of this is at risk.

New exemptions for oil and gas operations are rolling back critical Endangered Species Act protections, putting both wildlife and Gulf communities in harm’s way. Increased threats from spills, habitat destruction, and industrial activity could undo decades of conservation progress.

Healthy Gulf, alongside Earthjustice, is fighting back in court to restore protections and defend the Gulf ecosystem that so many of us depend on.
