Gina Minor Allen supports The 1881 Institute

I’m raising $1000 for the 1881 Institute for GiveNOLA day. This organization has helped my sons Joseph and Gabriel tremendously, and I want other NOLA youth to have the opportunities 1881 provides. As a proud Board Member of the 1881 Institute, I'm asking for your support on GiveNOLA Day. 1881 is doing great work providing workforce training in engineering & advanced manufacturing for NOLA youth. 

My sons gained so much under Bahiy Watson's mentorship. As a mechanical engineer, Bahiy provided the example that young Black men can excel in engineering and the sciences. My sons and many other New Orleans boys and girls were exposed to robotics, software development, 3D printing, woodworking and metalworking tools, and more. They had opportunities to work as a team through robotics competitions and learn leadership as Camp Counselors via 1881 Summer programs. As they grew older they gained support in securing internships. They were also able to go to academic conferences and present their work.

There are many more boys and girls in our community that deserve this level of mentorship and support. Help us do more for more of Louisiana's youth.
