Help Upturn Arts help Young artists in New Orleans

Hi everyone!

I am back and asking you for money again!  I am now (get this) the board chair of a group in New Orleans called Upturn Arts that uses art to help kids in New Orleans explore their creativity, find their unique voice, and walk out of our doors more confident and empowered.  It may not seem like it, but when I was little, I went to an arts school, so this is near and dear to my heart. 

I am hoping to raise $250 for GiveNOLA day which is Tuesday, May 5, and chipping in $50 to get things started!  Even more importantly, every contribution will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000.

If you believe that the arts are important for kids, please think about making a contribution.

When you think of an “upturn,” you might envision a stock chart that has jumped up in price. Well, that chart is much like our young artists’ experience in our programs. They create, create, and create. Then one day, minute, or second, they experience an “upturn” – that “aha” moment of “I did it!”, “Look at me!” and “I’m so proud of myself!”

Upturn Arts strives to inspire as many upturns as possible. We train our teaching staff of professional working artists with our own methodology to encourage our young artists to explore each art activity in a positive, supportive environment. At Upturn Arts, we combine creativity, support, and encouragement so upturns occur daily.

And, the best thing about “upturns?” No matter what happens later in life – just like the history of a stock – you can never take an upturn away. It will live in that young artist forever.
