ricRACK is a place to learn how to sew, create, grow, imagine, re-use, sustain, and succeed. Our hub is our Creative Reuse Shop and Community Sewing Studio in the heart of the French Quarter. We partner with schools, museums, and libraries throughout the city to bring the art and craft of sewing, along with it's place in environmental awareness to the community. We champion the ethos of sustainability and skill sharing, encouraging the repurposing and upcycling of textiles, reducing waste, and contributing to a healthier environment.

Community Sewing Studio: Sewing classes and mentorship programs for all skill levels and age groups. These sessions empower individuals to acquire entrepreneurial sewing skills while fostering creativity and sustainability.

Creative Reuse Shop: A hub for textiles & clothing donated by the film industry, local businesses, and community members. Offered at affordable prices, encouraging reuse and reducing textile waste.

Educational Outreach: Collaborations with schools, museums, libraries, and other community partners across New Orleans allow us to engage children and adults. These initiatives not only teach sewing skills but also raise awareness about the environmental impact of textile waste and community cultivation.

Textile Recycling Initiatives: Our twice-monthly Community Textile Recycling Days serve as collection points for end-of-life textiles, diverting them from landfills. These events educate the public on responsible textile disposal while making a tangible impact on reducing the amount of greenhouse gases created from decomposing textiles in the landfill.

Throw Me Something Handmade: Unique throws made entirely from scrap fabric and salvaged materials. This initiative helps to make Carnival season more environmentally aware.
