Success at Thurgood Marshall is a single-site charter K-8 school located in Mid-City on historic Canal St. Our school opened in August of 2009, serving students from all over New Orleans in grades K-3. Today we serve 450 students in grades K-8 and will be graduating our sixth class of 8th graders this May. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and students, as well as our excellent high school placement program, our alumni have gone on to thrive at some of the best high schools in the city. We have been recognized multiple times by the Louisiana Department of Education as a Top Gains School, including in 2011-12, 2012-13, 2015-16, and 2023-24.

In addition to rigorous academics, we offer students a host of extracurricular activities. Our middle school sports program offers football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and softball. You can find our marching band performing in parades and festivals across the city. Additionally, each year in May, students in grades 5-8 that meet academic and behavioral performance criteria over the course of the year attend a week-long trip with their peers.
