$3,100 raised by 35 donors
Every dollar St. George's raises on GiveNOLA Day goes directly to feeding our neighbors: no strings attached, no sermons required, and no questions asked. Every Sunday morning since Hurricane Katrina, St. George's Episcopal Church has served breakfast to its neighbors.
Not most Sundays. Every Sunday.
Through Hurricanes Gustav, Isaac, Barry, Ida, and Francine.
Through Tropical Storm Lee, the January 2025 blizzard, boil water advisories, flooded streets, and police curfews.
For more than 20 years, volunteers have shown up—because our guests show up too. Dragon Café has now served over 1,092 consecutive Sunday meals. Lou Gehrig played 2,130 consecutive games. We're coming for his record.
Dragon Café serves about 75 hot meals every Sunday morning at 8:30am to our unhoused neighbors, working poor families, and people living with mental illness or substance use challenges. In 2024, we launched Morning Call—open Monday through Wednesday at 9am—to offer coffee, a light breakfast, and a place to simply rest. Once a week, Morning Call guests can also receive a sack lunch and hygiene or clothing items.
Our goal is 100 donors, one for every neighbor we serve each week.
St. George's feeding ministry is entirely volunteer-led and -staffed. The annual operating cost is $30,000. Every dollar raised on GiveNOLA Day goes directly to keeping these doors open, these tables full, and our cups overflowing.
We're just trying to love our neighbors. Thank you for helping us do it.
Join us, a nourishing community seeking to walk and serve in God's radical, transformative love. Whoever you are, wherever you are in your faith, you belong here.
