Spirit of Charity - University Medical Center New Orleans

The University Medical Center New Orleans has officially became the only hospital in the Gulf South to hold all three of the highest national emergency designations: Level I Trauma Center, Verified Burn Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center. 

While these titles are prestigious, the "why" behind them is what matters most. In our region, trauma and strokes hit our community harder than almost anywhere else in the country. By bringing these three disciplines together into one seamless destination, we are ensuring that care is never fragmented when seconds matter most. 

This achievement is a testament to our mission as an academic medical center and a safety-net provider. It proves that clinical excellence and health equity go hand-in-hand. Whether a patient comes to us from across the street or across state lines, they are receiving the highest level of care available in the United States.
