Pontchartrain Conservancy is working every day to protect what makes our region special—and we can’t do it without you.

Our mission is to drive environmental sustainability and stewardship through science, education, and advocacy, building a more resilient and prosperous future for Southeast Louisiana. From the waters of the Pontchartrain Basin to the communities that depend on them, we believe a healthy environment supports a thriving region.

Founded in 1989 by scientists and community leaders, Pontchartrain Conservancy was created in response to urgent concerns about water quality and coastal land loss. Today, those challenges continue—and so does our commitment. Through scientific research, we monitor and protect local waterways. Through education, we connect students and families to Louisiana’s unique environment. Through advocacy, we advance solutions that restore and sustain our coast.

At the heart of our outreach is the historic New Canal Lighthouse, a hub for education programs, community events, and hands-on learning along Lake Pontchartrain.

Your support powers this work—protecting habitats, improving water quality, and inspiring future stewards. Donate today and help sustain our coast.
