Okra Abbey Giving Garden

Okra Abbey is a community center for spiritual recreation and re-creation - a sacred space where we grow in friendship and faith alongside one another as we share food -pray, play, and garden together - learning to use the food that we grow to provide care for our local community - especially those in need.

Our weekly programs are Grace & Greens and Peas & Love

Grace & Greens is a free community meal held every Wednesday at 12 pm at Okra Abbey. That being said, "Community" is the keyword in that description, Grace & Greens is an opportunity for all our neighbors to gather together around a meal and grow deeper in friendship. We begin every meal with a welcome and a blessing which sets the tone for the wide welcome we extend to one another during the meal and anytime we fellowship at the Abbey. By gathering around one long table the walls that often divide us in this diverse neighborhood, begin to fade away as we share stories, prayers, laughter, and delicious food

Peas & Love

Okra Abbey is a giving garden, which means all the produce we grow is given away to our neighbors. Unfortunately not all our neighbors are able to enjoy what is growing in garden beds in person, so we make home visits.
