New Orleans African American Museum

About this Organization

The New Orleans African American Museum (NOAAM) is a hub for inspiration, learning, and connection, serving Tremé, New Orleans, and global visitors through immersive exhibitions and programs that explore the African Diaspora's lasting impact on culture.

This year, NOAAM is raising $35,000 to preserve Black NOLA Culture in Tremé. As of 2019, only 33 original Black families remain in historic Tremé. In collaboration with Guest Curator Sabrina Mays, NOAAM launched Where the People At, a project documenting the oral histories of these families. Your support on #GiveNOLADay will help fund this program, its exhibition, and NOAAM's ongoing preservation efforts.

In 2022, NOAAM welcomed 19,000 visitors, reached 57,900 people, and engaged 100+ artists, 78 vendors, and 25 partner organizations. NOAAM remains committed to equity, imagination, and reimagining the future of Blackness, the arts, and institutions.
