Our Mission  

Dr. M. W. McCaleb Educational Fund, Inc. (“McCaleb”) is dedicated to strengthening the general welfare of residents in Central City and across New Orleans. We provide housing, education, economic development, and social services grounded in a simple belief: every person—regardless of race, gender, faith, or socioeconomic status—deserves the opportunity to improve their quality of life.

Who We Serve  

Since 1989, McCaleb has been a faith‑based, nonprofit lifeline for chronically homeless, disabled, elderly, and low‑income individuals of all backgrounds. Most of our residents live with mental, physical, or substance‑related disabilities. We welcome all races, all faiths, all genders, and all sexual orientations with dignity and compassion.

What We Provide  

McCaleb operates five permanent supportive housing communities, offering 129 safe, affordable units throughout New Orleans. But we don’t stop at housing. We provide the wraparound support needed for residents to live stable, healthy, and independent lives, including:

• Case management

• Counseling and referrals

• Rental assistance

• Tutoring and mentoring

• Computer literacy training

• Support for individuals with addictions

• Homelessness prevention services for homeowners and renters

For more than three decades, McCaleb has served as a vital community resource—funded entirely through donations and grants. Every contribution helps us provide stability, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most.
