Matthew 25:35 Ministries serve almost 300 families each month with a full food distribution. We have had challenges since COVID began and Ida hit but are proud to say we never missed one food distribution even during COVID. We also supply Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas bags, Senior Products and other special themed items through the year in addition to the food. We host workshops to help adults and children learn to shop, cook and eat healthy. We host other workshops to help clients learn to reduce their utilities, organize their finances and so on. We have exposed our clients to the arts by hosting them at the Nutcracker Brunch and then the performance. We are totally volunteer run and about 300 hours are volunteered each week. We receive our food from Second Harvest, Winn Dixie in Destrehan, Utz, a chip supplier, Chick-Fil-A in Kenner and many food drives held in the parish. We also purchase food items as needed. Matthew 25:35 Ministries host cooking classes, nutrition lessons, movement and dance classes, exposure to the arts, hurricane preparedness workshops social events and so on.
