Jesus Project Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit serving children, youth, and families in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans.

Mission
Jesus Project Ministries / Apple Street Learning Center is dedicated to empowering individuals to discover and fulfill their unique, God-given purpose through education, mentorship, and ministry.

Vision
Jesus Project Ministries is called to equip, empower, and disciple people and to transform marginalized communities by embodying the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What We Do

For over 15 years, we have created safe spaces, consistent mentorship, and practical support to help our community thrive. Our work is year-round and multi-generational.

Apple Street Learning Center

Apple Street Learning Center provides after-school tutoring for elementary and middle school students in Hollygrove. Students receive one-on-one literacy support, math enrichment, homework help, and mentoring in a safe and encouraging environment. This consistent support builds confidence and helps students grow academically and personally.

Free 9-Week Summer Camp

Our free 9-week Summer Camp provides a safe and structured place for neighborhood children during the summer months. Camp includes Bible lessons, crafts, games, enrichment activities, and daily meals and snacks. These meals are especially important during the summer when many children experience food insecurity without access to school meals.

JSTEP Youth Leadership Program

JSTEP equips teens through mentorship, spiritual formation, leadership development, and financial literacy training. Teens learn practical skills such as budgeting, saving, and stewardship while serving as mentors and leaders. Through paid summer leadership positions and community outreach service, students gain job experience and learn to give back to their own neighborhood.

Young Adult Development

Our Young Adult Development program supports former youth as they transition into adulthood through mentorship and discipleship. Through Rooted in Faith (RIF) gatherings, young adults share meals, study the Bible, and discuss life skills, identity in Christ, and decision-making. Paid internships also give young adults hands-on leadership experience in nonprofit ministry and mentoring the next generation.

Food 4 Families

Food 4 Families provides groceries and meals to households facing food insecurity in our neighborhood. Families receive consistent food support through distributions and community outreach efforts. This program helps relieve financial pressure while ensuring children and seniors have access to nutritious meals.

Community Outreach

Our Community Outreach events serve families throughout the year with practical support and encouragement. These events include back-to-school initiatives, holiday outreach, and neighborhood gatherings. They strengthen relationships, meet practical needs, and bring the community together.

Senior Care Ministry

Our Senior Care Ministry serves elderly neighbors through meals, fellowship, and prayer. Seniors gather regularly for community, encouragement, and spiritual support. These relationships ensure older adults in our neighborhood feel valued, connected, and cared for.

Our Impact

Through Jesus Project Ministries:

Youth & Education
• 296 children, teens, and young adults participated in our programs in 2025
• 118 students received after-school tutoring and mentorship through Apple Street Learning Center
• Reading proficiency doubled, increasing from 14% to 29% reading at or above grade level

Leadership Development
• 15 teens gained paid summer job experience through the JSTEP Youth Leadership Program
• 5 young adults served as ministry interns, with several continuing into college, military service, or employment

Summer Camp
• 70 children attended our free 9-week Summer Camp
• 100% of campers received meals or snacks during the summer
• 5 children made decisions to follow Christ

Food & Community Support
• 5,183 meals were distributed through Food 4 Families, summer meals, and outreach
• Hundreds of neighbors were served through community events, including Hope Fest (175 people), Back-to-School support for 250 students, Cajun Thanksgiving (250 attendees), and Christmas gifts for 275 children

Senior Care
• Seniors in our neighborhood experience connection and encouragement through regular gatherings designed to reduce isolation
