Jefferson Children's Advocacy Center

About this Organization

The Jefferson Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) is a community based, nationally accredited agency, and was the first Children's Advocacy Center to open in Louisiana in 1991. Our primary purpose is to coordinate an interagency approach within Jefferson Parish regarding child abuse, neglect and child witnesses of violent crimes, while lessening the trauma victims may experience during and beyond the investigation and criminal justice proceedings of their cases.

With this goal in mind, we utilize a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach, to include Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Social Services, Mental Health and Medical Professionals, while respecting and honoring our culturally diverse clientele within the community. Such an interagency effort facilitates the appropriate and consistent detection of and response to child abuse in our community.

Since opening, over 8,500 children have walked through our doors for services.
