GiveNOLA Day is on May 5th and early giving is open now! Please support us today to help us protect and empower 1.2 million people with disabilities across Louisiana.
In just one year, intake calls surged 20% — more people with disabilities across Louisiana are having to fight for their right to live safe, thriving, independent lives.
Last year, you helped us serve 2,500 individuals who were fighting for the simplest things: to go to school, to go to work, to get healthcare, to exercise their autonomy, to stay in their communities.
This year, the fight continues and we're aiming to raise $15,000 through GiveNOLA Day to continue building the private support we need as our community's needs grow and our federal funding faces threats.
Every dollar helps us change individual lives and hold systems accountable. For example:
• $50 — Helps us ADVOCATE for people fighting to live safely and independently by answering emergency calls and challenging systems.
• $100 — Helps us PROTECT people with disabilities from abuse by investigating facilities and holding institutions accountable.
• $200 — Helps us EMPOWER the disability community through training, policy change, and impact litigation that creates lasting systemic change.
Our work is driven by people like you—people who want health, independence, and the ability to participate in communities as neighbors, coworkers, classmates, and parents. When you support DRLA, you make sure people don't fight for these things alone — and you help create a Louisiana where everyone with a disability can thrive in their community.
What our clients say:
"Disability Rights Louisiana has the most passionate and helpful staff I’ve ever met. They saved my life, gave me back my dignity, and awakened the spirit of advocacy that’s guided me for nearly 15 years.” - DRLA client
"I felt defeated attending IEP meetings every month. I got so much pushback when I was explaining that my son wasn't getting the socialization he needed and was falling behind. The school board wasn't expecting me to come with an attorney. Once they realized my DRLA attorney wasn't going to let them keep pushing us around, things were different." —Parent of DRLA client
"Their eyes light up when she talks to them—they know she's there for them and that she'd fight to the bitter end for them." —Family member describing how residents in a group home feel about their DRLA advocate
"DRLA has been our saving grace. Every time an attorney showed up for us, it was a weight off my chest. I knew [my grandson] would be okay." - Grandparent of DRLA client
