$1,000 Goal

For the next 24 hours, GiveNOLA Day empowers our community to come together to support Disability Rights Louisiana—and the 1.2 million people with disabilities across Louisiana.

Since 1977, we've been fighting for the human and civil rights of people with disabilities.

Last year, our work has become more critical than ever. Our intake team fielded over 20% more calls than the year before, reflecting increased challenges to healthcare access, economic supports, education services, and community living that people with disabilities are facing. In response, our team of attorneys and advocates:

Provided individual legal and non-legal advocacy to 771 people when civil rights, safety, and independence were threatened. We helped them expand healthcare access, improve institutional conditions, and remove barriers to employment, education, and independent living.

Monitored 513 facilities to protect the rights of 5,277 institutionalized people with disabilities.

Helped 750 people leave institutional care with new Medicaid Waiver slots, secured through policy advocacy. This change saves Louisiana approximately $27 million by preventing institutionalization.

Join us in holding the line for the civil rights of Louisiana's disability community:

• $50 — Helps us ADVOCATE for people fighting to live safely and independently by answering emergency calls and challenging systems.

• $100 — Helps us PROTECT people with disabilities from abuse by investigating facilities and holding institutions accountable.

• $200 — Helps us EMPOWER the disability community through training, policy change, and impact litigation that creates lasting systemic change.

Your gift today helps us answer more calls for help. Together, we're building a Louisiana where people with disabilities are treated with dignity. Where every child gets the education they deserve. Where adults can access competitive jobs. Where healthcare is accessible. Where independence and autonomy are possible.

Make your impact now during this 24-hour giving window. Stand with Louisiana's disability community today.

What our clients say:

"Disability Rights Louisiana has the most passionate and helpful staff I’ve ever met. They saved my life, gave me back my dignity, and awakened the spirit of advocacy that’s guided me for nearly 15 years.” - DRLA client

"I felt defeated attending IEP meetings every month. I got so much pushback when I was explaining that my son wasn't getting the socialization he needed and was falling behind. The school board wasn't expecting me to come with an attorney. Once they realized my DRLA attorney wasn't going to let them keep pushing us around, things were different." —Parent of DRLA client

"Their eyes light up when she talks to them—they know she's there for them and that she'd fight to the bitter end for them." —Family member describing how residents in a group home feel about their DRLA advocate

"DRLA has been our saving grace. Every time an attorney showed up for us, it was a weight off my chest. I knew [my grandson] would be okay." - Grandparent of DRLA client
