Crimestoppers, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit serving a nine-parish region of Southeastern Louisiana. To foster a safe community, our mission is to prevent and solve crime by providing educational crime prevention programs for youth and adults, and by assisting Law Enforcement Agencies in identifying and arresting criminal suspects through anonymous tips by citizens.

Over the past 40 years, more than a crime a day has been solved by Crimestoppers tips. Crimestoppers uses the community policing model by giving citizens and students the opportunity to report crime and school related offenses anonymously without fear of retaliation. Our secure tip hotline allows callers to report information on crime anonymously and receive cash rewards for felony arrests. We offer Youth Crime Prevention programs that are free and open to students in our 9-parish service area. These programs have included the Safe School Louisiana App, Safety Prevention Presentations, Teen Ambassadors Against Crime Leadership Program, and Teen Peace Congress. We also have victim services to help families navigate the investigative process. At no cost to families, we provide reward fliers, promotional door hangers, bookmarks, media ads, and an interactive blog on our website. By joining forces with local clergy, Project Good Samaritan addresses concerns of fear and apathy that may exist among witnesses reporting crime. Additionally, we participate in the city wide/multi parish Night Out Against Crime assisting with over 200 neighborhood parties.

(During the May 16, 2025 OPJC escape) Crimestoppers played a critical role by streamlining thousands of public tips. This helped to guide investigators, narrow searches, and identify the escapees as well as those who assisted them. Those tips directly led to the capture of six fugitives. In one case, the first tip resulted in an arrest by the New Orleans Police Department within one hour. In total, more than $140,000 in rewards were paid, highlighting the power of public involvement. On October 8, 2025, after nearly five months, the final fugitive was captured in Atlanta following a Crime Stoppers tip.
