Boys Hope Girls Hope New Orleans

About this Organization

Exciting News: on May 12, Boys Hope Girls Hope becomes Hope Ignites! Our name will change, but our mission to nurture and guide young people in need to become successful adults is the same.

Founded in 1980, Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) provides motivated children in great need in our community with a family-like home environment and access to higher education, to empower them to build brighter futures. BHGH operates two family-like homes for children in New Orleans, one for boys and one for girls. Each home can serve eight children in residence through their high school graduation and college entrance, and we provide ongoing financial support and professional opportunities to our program graduates in college.

Children who reside in our BHGH homes are motivated to succeed and coming from families in crisis. We serve a target population of capable and motivated youth between the ages of 8-18 who come from backgrounds of extreme economic or social distress in the New Orleans area and who need a stable home environment. As of this January, 100% of our scholars are African American youth from families in poverty, and 95% will be first generation college graduates.
