The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - Louisiana Chapter (AFSP Louisiana) is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.

Thanks to amazing supporters like you, AFSP Louisiana was awarded 2023 Chapter of the Year, Outstanding Support of Research, and Outstanding Education and Program Delivery.

AFSP Louisiana creates a culture that's smart about mental health by engaging in the following core strategies:

- Funding scientific research. This year, AFSP has funded $8 million in groundbreaking suicide prevention research. AFSP continues to be the largest private funder of suicide prevention research. Much of what we know about suicide has been discovered by AFSP-funded research.
- Educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention. In 2024, AFSP Louisiana educated over 10,000 students, parents, educators, law enforcement officials, business leaders, and community members.
- Advocating for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention. AFSP Louisiana engages over 400 Voluntee Advocates who help affect change at all levels of government.
- Supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide. We continue to provide hope and healing to suicide loss survivors through our Healing Conversations program and International Survivors of Suicide Loss Days events.
