Youth Run NOLA

Youth Run NOLA (YRN) creates opportunities for our area's young people to develop healthier lifestyles and build a more interconnected community through distance running. YRN envisions a world in which our area's young people drive individual and community health change. We use distance running to help youth develop healthier habits, set and achieve goals, and establish a network of supportive adults.

Youth Run NOLA began in 2010 when a small group of teachers started running with their students after school. Today, we directly serve 400 youth and engage over 1,500 through our programs-while staying true to our grassroots, community-driven spirit.

We provide all youth with free access to running gear, transportation to community events, race entry, and pre- and post-race nutrition, ensuring our programs remain inclusive and no-cost. Our curriculum supports social-emotional learning and youth development, using running as a tool to build confidence, resilience, and community.

For many youth, Youth Run NOLA is more than a running program-it's a space for belonging, growth, and empowerment. By crossing the finish line, they prove to themselves what's possible, both on and off the course.
