Wake has set a goal to raise $10,000 this GiveNOLA Day to support the first Community Deathcare Provider Training program. This first-of-its-kind training empowers anyone with an interest to be able to support loved ones when they inevitably have to deal with death and dying. The intensive training module will teach participants skills to handle the challenges of end-of-life care that anyone can learn. The training will also provide an overview of local resources, with tips for where to find help and how to navigate local agencies and services. The course will provide the participants with an overview of the end of life process, with a focus on practical considerations, and includes training in advance care planning, disposition navigation, basic body care, and getting the family's "ducks in a row."
