Vietnamese Initiatives in Economic Training

A nonprofit organization

VIET was established in 2001 with the goal of developing educational and economic training programs while serving as a vital resource center for minority residents in Louisiana. Our mission is to bridge cultural and language barriers, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of background, have access to the support and resources they need to thrive. At the heart of VIET's mission and vision is our commitment to promoting a healthy and productive community, equal access to services, and a strong academic environment for our children. We are dedicated to fostering community engagement and involvement, supporting financially stable families, and advocating for a violence-free environment.

For more than 20 years, VIET has been dedicated to providing direct services and advocacy to the residents of Louisiana, with a special focus on limited English-speaking individuals and underserved communities in the Greater New Orleans area. Each month, the VIET office serves at least 400 clients through walk-in services, offering critical support to those in need. Our services include assistance with applications for SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare Savings Program, Medicare and Social Security benefits, unemployment claims, Green Card renewals, citizenship applications, as well as interpreting and translation services. Additionally, we provide access to a wide range of other essential social services, ensuring our community members receive the help they need to thrive.

Testimonials

" Viet has made such huge contribution to the community. My children have been participants of Viet's Child and Youth Programs since early childhood. They are now young adults and are still active participants in Viet Community Projects and programs. This Center is what I called a "Safe Space."There is always different social events going on and things to do all year around which kept my children occupied and out of trouble. For this,I am forever grateful. " - Arzu Family
