One of the most common and preventable barriers to prenatal care in our community is transportation. Far too many expectant mothers miss appointments or delay care simply because they don’t have a reliable way to get to the hospital. In Louisiana, where maternity care deserts and long travel distances are a daily reality, this challenge can have very real consequences for moms and babies.

That’s why Touro created the Maternal Fetal Medicine Transportation Program.

As the state’s only Level IV birthing center for high‑risk pregnancies, Touro cares for patients who often need frequent monitoring or urgent evaluation. For families without dependable transportation, getting to those visits can feel overwhelming. This program helps bridge that gap — ensuring patients can get to care when it matters most.
