The English-Speaking Union US New Orleans Branch, LLC

A nonprofit organization

The English-Speaking Union employs the English language as a catalyst to foster global understanding and good will by providing educational and cultural opportunities for students, educators and members.

In order to fulfill our Mission, the New Orleans Branch conducts the following activities and programs in our community:

1) The Annual National Shakespeare Competition for high school students, paying for the regional semi-final winner's travel expenses to New York City, to compete in the final competition.
2) The Annual Middle School Debate program, in affiliation with Tulane University.
3) The English teacher scholarship program (TLAB), to attend advanced summer programs at Oxford University, the University of Edinburgh and the Shakespeare Globe-London.
4) English in Action tutorials between members and local residents, for whom English is a second language, so that they will better understand phrases and nuances of the English language in daily use.
5) The Secondary School Exchange program, which seeks a student from an area-participating school to attend a corresponding participatory school, in the United Kingdom, to attend a Gap Year, post high-school.
6) The Shakespeare Writing Program, an annual essay contest.

Funds raised during GiveNOLA Day 2022 will be dedicated to the expansion and future workshop programs associated with our annual National Shakespeare Competition,
