Silence Broken’s mission is to support the mental and spiritual healing of survivors of childhood sexual abuse and cultivate faith communities that embrace them.

Based on careful assessments of critical studies, we estimate that a minimum of 25% of American adults experienced childhood sexual abuse, and survivors often find their past traumas to be a barrier to faith and connection with God. Feelings of fear, shame, anger, isolation, and hopelessness are common, and may lead them to feel out of place in a faith community and abandoned by God. By equipping spiritual leaders and communities to embrace sexual abuse survivors, we advance God’s promise that none of us will be forsaken. 

Funds will be used to expand our programming for spiritual leaders of various backgrounds, religions, and denominations. We equip spiritual leaders to walk supportively with survivors, provide spiritual care in a way that is theologically grounded and clinically aligned, and foster communities that are inclusive of all.
