Orleans Parish 4-H Foundation

About this Organization

In Orleans 4-H, youth learn new skills through a variety of programs including culinary arts, horticulture, drones, robotics, nutrition, leadership and service learning. Members "learn by doing" through hands-on, experiential activities that encourage both learning new skills and application of these skills in their community. 4-H lessons are developed with research-based material from the LSU AgCenter.

Currently in Orleans Parish, more than 1,000 youth benefit from 4-H programs annually. 4-H's learning opportunities are intentionally designed around four essential elements necessary for positive youth development: Belonging, Independence, Generosity, and Mastery. These guiding elements ensure that youth have a positive relationship with a caring adult and a safe and inclusive environment. Youth have the opportunity for self-advocacy. Youth participate in service-learning opportunities as a means of giving back to the community to find their spark and thrive.
