Master Gardeners of Greater New Orleans
About this Organization
Master Gardeners of Greater New Orleans (MGGNO) serves Orleans and Jefferson Parishes as a volunteer outreach of the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. Our certified Louisiana Master Gardeners share research-based gardening practices that protect the environment and promote sustainability.
In 2024, our 161 volunteer members donated 11,549 service hours, creating an economic impact of $316,349.
MGGNO supports community gardens that teach sustainable food production and share seasonal harvests with neighboring communities. We also maintain many demonstration gardens where visitors can learn how to grow plants suited for our climate such as Louisiana Super Plants, native species and pollinator plants. We also offer free educational programs through our Speakers Bureau, presenting to garden clubs, schools, libraries, and community groups across Greater New Orleans.
Together, we cultivate a greener, healthier and more knowledgeable community.
