Lafourche Council on Aging,Inc.
About this Organization
The Lafourche Council on Aging's impact is that when Hurricane Ida hit Lafourche Parish, we were in the Lafourche Parish Government Building. We were only paying a portion of the electricity bill. The Parish Government had damage on their side, therefore they asked us to find another location. We are now paying rent and utilities, which runs about $3,00.00 monthly. We are now having to build a new office. It will cost the Lafourche Council on Aging 2.6 million dollars. This 2.6 million we had set aside for our rainy day fund for the unexpected. Well now we are using the unexpected funds for our new office and we have to put clients on waiting list. The Lafourche Council on Aging services clients 60 years of age or older who are in need personal care, home delivered meals, center meals, homemaker services, transportation to and from dialysis and doctor appointments, medical alert button, etc. We would like to keep these clients in their own homes and keep them as independent as possible. Some of these clients have no one to help them. We are the only ones they see on a daily basis.
