Donald Brown Educational Foundation

The Donald Brown Educational Foundation (DBEF) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, established in 2022 and deeply rooted in the River Parishes community. We are dedicated to eliminating educational disparities and reducing financial barriers that limit access to quality education. Many students face significant challenges in pursuing their academic goals, often due to economic hardship or lack of resources. Our mission is to bridge these gaps by providing programs and support that make education accessible and equitable for all.

Through our unique scholarship program, DBEF empowers graduating high school seniors in St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James Parishes to take their first step toward college, a critical moment that can shape their entire future. Each year, we award up to three scholarships ranging from $500.00 to $5,000.00 to equip students cover tuition, books, and essential expenses so they can focus on learning and pursuing their dreams.

"I was one of the recipients of the Donald Brown Educational Foundation scholarship. As I have just completed my first semester at Nicholls State University, I would like to reflect on how your scholarship has assisted me. This past semester, fees and textbook costs were two things I was most definitely worried about paying for. With your scholarship funds, I was able to cover some of my semester fees. I was also able to purchase the Colonel Book Bundle, which allowed me to get all the textbooks I needed for my classes. Not only did your scholarship funds help me pay for my first semester at Nicholls, but it also made the financial burden of college a lot easier for me. Because of your kindness and generosity, my transition to college was much easier. I was able to enjoy my semester more, rather than worrying about how I was going to pay for everything.
