The Center for Literacy and Learning

About this Organization

Founded in 1992, The Center for Literacy & Learning is a statewide leader in advancing literacy through evidence-based practices in classrooms, homes, and communities. We empower educators, engage families, and advocate for policies that ensure every child becomes a confident reader.

Our programs include the Literacy Coach Program, Lit Academy, and Science of Reading Learning Academy, offering high-impact training from early childhood through grade 12. We also support early childhood educators through Cornerstones, and lead family engagement efforts like Louisiana Reads! and the Louisiana Statewide Family Engagement Center (LA-SFEC) to bridge learning between school and home.

We host the premier Plain Talk About Literacy and Learning® Institute, reaching 3,000+ educators annually, and are planning our second annual Plain Talk About Dyslexia, a summit dedicated to supporting learners with dyslexia.

As one of the driving forces behind Louisiana's literacy growth, we're proud to help lead the change that moved our 4th grade NAEP reading scores from 42nd to 16th in 2024.

Your GiveNOLA Day gift helps us keep pushing forward-for every child, every classroom, and every community.
