Communities In Schools of the Gulf South surrounds students with the support they need to stay in school and succeed in life.

Across Louisiana, CIS Gulf South places dedicated Site Coordinators directly inside schools to connect students and families to the resources they need to overcome barriers and stay engaged in learning.

So far this year, CIS Gulf South has served 27 schools across Louisiana and provided direct support to more than 6,000 students through school-based services, crisis intervention, case management, and individualized student support.

• One-on-one case management for students facing academic, behavioral, attendance, or personal challenges

• Mental health and social emotional support that helps students build coping skills, confidence, and stability

• Crisis intervention and urgent support for students and families navigating housing insecurity, food access, grief, and other immediate needs

• Family engagement services that connect caregivers to school staff, community resources, and student support plans

• Attendance and academic interventions that help students stay on track, remain engaged, and improve classroom success

• Basic needs support like school supplies, hygiene items, uniforms, transportation assistance, and emergency resources

• Schoolwide student support that creates safer, more connected learning environments where students can thrive
