Croatian American Society
About this Organization
Headquartered in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, the Croatian American Society helps to share the deep-rooted culture, food, music and religious traditions of Croatian Americans that have lived in southeastern Louisiana for many years.
South Louisiana's Croatian-American community is one of the oldest Croatian communities in the United States. Having cultivated close connections, the Croatian American Society was formally established in 1991 to promote a sense of community across generations and to share and document Louisiana Croatian traditions.
Today, its programs and activities are focused on documenting the history of Louisiana Croatian heritage and educating a younger, American-born generation of Louisiana Croatians, as well as the general public, about the historical roots of
the Croatian language, religious celebrations, Catholic traditions, cuisine, music, and dance within our local Louisiana culture.
