Black Boys Read NOLA
About this Organization
The best part about the book club is the difference it's made already. Parents have noticed changes in their boys. Characters in coloring books and activity sheets that were once colored pale now have darker skin. The boys take notice of the Black protagonists as well. We also enjoy the huge turnout of dads. Black dads are really killing it lately and the book club is no exception. What I love most of all is the sense of brotherhood shared amongst these boys who have never met prior to the club. They welcome and embrace new members as is they were distant relatives. It's truly a sight to behold and it never gets old to me. The book club is also important because this is proof that Black males can gather and be productive around something that involves intellect, and not physical or musical talents.
